Scandinavian style, has not ceased to be a guest in our lives for at least a few seasons, has already settled for good in Polish interior design. No wonder – many of us appreciate the minimalism and functionality it offers. We like bright spaces, light, the combination of white with gray and light wood. On the other hand, we also like interesting accessories and plants. Fortunately, the Scandinavian style does not exclude them.

Scandinavian style in the interior

What accessories go well with Scandinavian-style interiors? There are quite a few of them. We are talking, for example, about wooden letters arranged in words such as “HOME” or “LOVE”. In addition to them, in interiors where Scandinavian style reigns supreme, there are often frames of various sizes that form galleries on the walls. The images, or rather graphics, are usually minimalist, and typographic posters are often used. Deer antlers are an integral part of Scandinavian-style decoration: either hung on the wall or in the form of a picture. Nowadays, eclectic accents are also fashionable: introducing, for example, a vintage-style chair or an industrial cabinet into a room arranged in Scandinavian style is not a faux pas, on the contrary – it is an interesting and original idea. When choosing accessories, go for natural materials. Self-made pallet furniture, for example, will work great. A Scandinavian interior must include pillows or blankets to warm up the interior. The same function – warming the interior – is performed by plants, which in a room maintained in the Scandinavian style should also not be missing.

When choosing plants for Scandinavian-style interiors, go for luscious greens that enliven cool whites and grays, and use interesting forms. Plants can be placed in hanging flowerbeds, in decorative pots or in vases. It is important to remember that the more showy the plant, the better it looks in a simple pot (and vice versa). Here are some species that will look good in Scandinavian arrangements:

  • Common ivy, for example, in the form of garland, in a pot or on a round frame;
  • Fig trees or olive trees;
  • ficuses;
  • Hole monstera in a pot or single leaves in a vase;
  • Various species of palms in tall, slender pots, set on the ground;
  • variously shaped succulents in small pots, such as. “money.”
  • orchids.

Scandinavian style likes what is natural, but also what looks natural. Live plants can be combined with artificial ones or completely replaced by them. It is important to choose plants from good manufacturers, to illusively imitate live specimens. This will result in a beautiful and durable decoration. This will avoid the need for pruning and regular shaping of plants, which will maintain the form that suits us. In addition, using artificial plants, we will have a free hand when it comes to the placement of individual plants – we can set the selected specimens wherever they will fit, without having to respect the requirements that particular species have. And this gives you great freedom to create interesting arrangements!
